Junior Chaplaincy Team
We have a group of eight specially commissioned Junior Chaplains from KS2 who are working really hard to share the Good News Jesus brings. Supported by Miss Onn, they meet every week to plan and deliver fantastic Acts of Worship, bringing the Word to life with their creative approaches – drama, song, art & prayer - and helping the rest of the school to understand the Gospel message.
“Our job is to share the Good News and teach everyone to follow Jesus.” (Chaplaincy Team)
Our Mini Vinnies also work hard to spread the Good News by putting concern into action. They have just attended a special formation day with other young people in St Cuthbert’s Trust. Each week, our Mini Vinnies give us an Act of Kindness which everyone tries to follow. These acts of kindness, linked to the Gospel message, help to make our school a happy place.
Apart from helping with our charitable endeavours, our Mini Vinnies also attend special Housebound Days at St Stephen’s Neighbourhood Centre where they help to brighten the day of the visitors to the centre.
“We love serving the lunches, playing Bingo and helping at the Mass...” (Mini Vinnies)
“The children are a credit to St Richard’s!” (Margaret Merrison)
Our children in Year 3 & 4 have had the opportunity to share in Godly Play recently and currently 2 are enjoying weekly sessions delivered by our School Chaplain. We have shared a wide range of stories from the Old & New Testament, including the sand and parable stories.
The whole of the school have also had the opportunity to share in the Advent and Lenten stories as part of their preparation for Christmas and Easter.
First Holy Communion Celebration Day
Children who have received the Eucharist for the first time will be invited to join other new communicants at a special day to celebrate the sacrament of First Communion at the Marist Hall & Church this summer. This will give them an opportunity to reflect on the mystery of the Eucharist in a very special way.
